March 20 marked the Vernal Equinox and the first day of Spring. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Spring is the season of the Wood Element – the time of year when we move from the ‘yin’ of winter to the ‘yang’ of spring and summer. Hopefully, we have rested and replenished during the quieter, dormant phase of winter, and are now ready to spring forward into new beginnings. I love the hopefulness of spring. To nourish our wood element, we are reminded to be flexible and resilient, like a soft new plant. It is a time to express ourselves and our creativity in healthy ways.
I’m celebrating by cleaning my house and cleaning up a zillion loose ends that have been waiting in the wings. Rather than dreading house cleaning (my usual approach), I find it feels cathartic today and I’m energized by the idea of moving forward from a clean slate.
Find a way to clear your palate today and begin fresh. What does your creative spirit want to do?
