What is the Yin Yoga Healing Session?

In this tranquil session, we will explore a series of Yin Yoga postures, while
nestling into supportive cushions.  Yin Yoga combines the stillness of meditation
with the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine, resulting in tremendous
healing potential for your body, mind, and heart.  Yin Yoga postures are floor
poses held for 3-5 minutes.  While holding the pose, we delicately balance
strength and effort with surrender and acceptance.  As we learn to relax through
the vehicle of the body, witnessing but not reacting to sensation, the mind opens
into a meditative state of awareness.  We learn to calmly center ourselves in the
midst of challenge.

As you surrender into each pose in this special Yin Yoga Healing Session, Lori
will move among the group, directing healing universal energy through her body
and hands to help you relax and let go.  You will feel the gentle warm touch of
Lori's healing hands through your clothes (no pushing or pulling, just soothing
touch), as she aids the healing process brought about through these deep
stretches.

What are the benefits?

Holding the Yin Yoga poses for several minutes is like needle-less acupuncture.  
Life force energy is unleashed and distributed throughout the meridian systems,
especially the deepest yin elements of the body – the bones and connective
tissues.  Healthy function is restored to the joints, hips, lower back, sacrum, and
shoulders. It is the long holding of deep stretches that reaches the connective
tissues (ligaments, tendons, fascia), which are not as easily stretched as
muscles.  Stretching these deep tissues allows for more comfort while moving
through life and while sitting, especially in seated meditation.

While receiving energy balancing work, you may experience sensations such as
warmth, peacefulness, lightness, tingling, or flowing energy.  Some see colors
and visions in the mind's eye or are reminded of old memories.  Sometimes,
emotions bubble up.  Energy work feels gentle, safe, and nurturing.  It can reduce
stress, promote healthy sleep patterns, and bring a sense of clarity into your life.  
It can be particularly beneficial during transitional times such as a change in
relationships or careers.  Energy work directs the full power of healing intention
to restore energetic imbalances at the cellular level, and then ripples out to
relieve tension, pain, and illness.

What do I need?

Wear comfortable layered clothing you can stretch in.  Yoga mats, bolsters,
blankets, and eye pillows will be provided.

Space is limited to 10 people maximum.  These sessions fill up
quickly.
